Colorless Diamonds
The color of a diamond is an alphabetical grading system that goes from D to Z with the D grading being truly devoid of any hues, also known as a “white” diamond. Z, being on the other end of the spectrum designates a stone with a light yellow tone. Because clarity is highly valued, the less color a diamond has, the more valuable it is.
While most natural diamonds attribute their colored hues to imperfections within the stone, simulated diamonds are made to be flawless.
When you hear term Carat in diamond parlance, people tend to think in terms of size but actually it is a matter of weight. Larger diamonds in their natural state are a rarer find and with it, their value increases. However a diamond can be cut to look bigger or smaller than it actually is. That’s part of the magic in the hands of a skilled cutter.
